Long ago, in Henan, the story of Punk Munk begins.

Abandoned at birth, he was left at the steps of a Shaolin temple where he would grow into his adulthood with discipline and devotion. Punk Munk, also known as Pengke, naturally excelled in martial arts.

The elder monks were amazed by his abilities and often sent him to protect important rulers in other areas. Over time, it became apparent that communism was taking over their land.

The government was invading the Buddhist temples, doing everything in their power to destroy the religion and any documents or texts preserved within. The elder monks began planning a pilgrimage around this time, but Punk Munk knew that it was their way of fleeing from the danger that was looming ahead.

The elders trusted Punk Munk to stay at the temple while they set out on their journey. He immediately began absorbing the documents within the temple, learning everything they had to offer before hiding them away in preparation for the arrival of government soldiers.

Stay tuned for more of Pengke’s story!
